We are so excited that you are coming to the University of Wisconsin – Madison and we look forward to meeting you soon!
Wondering what The Crossing is all about and how it has impacted the lives of students around campus? Here is what some of our recent graduates have to say. Won’t you like to be one of these voices by the end of your college experience? Come and join us!
The Crossing is first and foremost a community, built around acceptance of all people, regardless of where they are in life. The Crossing lives out its mission excellently, and it is one of the few places where I feel like I belong. The Crossing is also dedicated to social justice issues, and I feel energized to do what I can to change the world.
The Crossing was my return home to Jesus that I didn’t expect, but had been searching for since freshman year of college. Years before, my family had suffered a very heartbreaking falling out with the church I grew up with because of different beliefs. I became very angry towards church and Christians in general, but missed the loving community that came with Christ-like people. Then, a miracle happened. I was drawn to an event held at the Crossing, Gay and Christian, and continued to go ever since. The love, acceptance, and pure grace shown by the leadership and fellow students changed my life, and my faith. I will forever view the Crossing as my home, my church, and my spiritual family.
For my last three years at the University, the Crossing has been for me a source of friendship, encouragement, spiritual wisdom, and transformative experiences abroad. Its emphasis on inclusivity and social justice makes it an invaluable presence on campus and its BadgerQuest program is unequivocally the best kept secret at Madison. The Crossing is doing spectacular things to peoples’ lives across the world, and I cannot thank them enough for what they’ve done for me and my beautiful connection with that wonderful, transcendent, mysterious presence we call God.
To me the Crossing represents a family. It is a community where I grew into myself and my faith, where I found support when I needed it, and where I shared countless great moments. No matter what was going on around me I could always find a friend to lean on and someone to listen and offer a bit of advice in the Crossing community. I would not be the person I am today without the support, love, and acceptance that the Crossing has shown me from day one, and continues to show me as I venture into a new chapter of my life.
During my undergraduate and graduate years, the Crossing provided me with a safe place to explore and formulate my religious and spiritual beliefs. The Crossing staff and students are always supportive, open-minded, and ready for conversation. I feel fortunate to have had the opportunity to be involved in the great things the Crossing is doing, for students at UW, the Madison community, and the world (through quest trips)!
